"Engage Your Students with Real Content: An Invitation to Transform Your English Language Classroom"

Learning English is essential in 21st-century education, with two billion people learning worldwide. These learners use English to improve their opportunities in business, science, and online. As educators, we can teach English through meaningful, relevant content that resonates with their lives.

Understanding global awareness is necessary today. Real content helps us deliver the world to learners, stimulating learning and inspiring curiosity. Show students something amazing, beautiful, mysterious, strange, or unfamiliar yet real, and they will want to learn about it; and when people are curious, they learn.

We seek content that creates awe and prepares learners for the real world. Real content speaks for itself, helping us achieve our mission of bringing the world to the classroom and the classroom to life.

Join us and explore how real content can transform your English language classroom. Ignite your students' curiosity and prepare them for a world full of opportunities.

For centuries, various approaches and methods have been developed to aid language learning. After extensive research and experimentation, can we distill this complex process into a few universal principles?

This session, inspired by National Geographic's tradition of making the world tangible through exploration, seeks to answer that question by exploring the idea of concrete learning and what it entails in terms of cognition.

We will delve into the contributions of the Science of Learning and English Language Teaching to identify effective strategies, pitfalls, and areas for improvement. The role of coursebooks, digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and immersive contexts will be discussed in light of new scientific evidence. Participants are expected to gain insights into their teaching practices and leave with practical ideas to create more memorable and impactful learning experiences.

"Genomics in the Wild: What the Juanitas from Iguazu Teach Us About the Origin of New Species in Nature"

Understanding the ways in which new species can form in nature is key to appreciating and preserving biodiversity.

In this talk, the audience will take a journey to the heart of The Iguazu National Park to explore a group of fishes that are a wonder of biological evolution. Juanitas are members of the Cichlid family of fishes, world champions in the formation of new species.

Alongside a team of biologists and local explorers, the audience will look at the genomic and ecological causes that make the Juanitas so special.
