LANGUAGE LEARNING IS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL
English teachers understand how language learning intertwine with social and emotional skills. It´s about feeling confident, being able to express your opinions, connecting to others and sharing your experience with the world in a different language. And when it comes to young learners, feeling confident and curious about learning is directly related to their well-being. A curious learner is confident enough to ask questions, explore the world and navigate it successfully.
In this workshop session, Fernanda de Oliveira invites educators to dive into the concept of Social Emotional Learning to understand how it applies to language learning. With a variety of examples and activities that can be used right away in both the online and hybrid teaching environments, at the end of the session, teachers will be able to understand SEL, its implications in ELT, and put those examples into practice. This will help them get the best of their young learners, empower them and help them develop the social and emotional learning skills they need while learning English and learning about the world.
